'From Country’
‘From Country’ is inspired by and created by the land itself. It uses the pigments found within Mother Earth to illustrate the beauty of the land. The artwork is painted using only sandstones, ochres and water. The sandstone was collected from the surrounds of my home, on Darkinjung land, and the ochre gathered from the ochre pits beside a lake where I used to call home on Wiradjuri land. These were crushed and mixed with water to create the natural tones on ‘From Country’.
The top section of the artwork shows the importance of community and family, with the u-shapes illustrating children, Elders, women and men. It reflects the importance of respecting each other and that all people are equal and valued within society.
The middle section reflects our waterways – the rivers, creeks, lakes and oceans that are a major part of Australia’s landscape. The ripple patterns shows that every action has a reaction and it is vital to ensure we look after our water so it can sustain all life and future generations.
The bottom reflects the land. The lines illustrate the layers within the Earth and the generations of knowledge held within it. The circles show that we must continue to look after the land and that everything is connected.
Cotton Rag - The sizes for the fine art prints are 60cm x 60cm and 90cm x 90cm. The sizes for the cotton rag include the 5 centimetre white border and they are scanned at high resolution, printed on 310gsm Canson Photo RAG with 12 colour pigment ink. All prints come numbered with my embossed logo to certify their authenticity. COTTON RAG PRINTS COME UNFRAMED
Canvas - The size available for the canvas print is 90cm x 90cm. This is available as a rolled canvas.
A signed Certificate of Authenticity and representation comes with each limited edition print. Prices INCLUDE POSTAGE IN AUSTRALIA. International shipping is additional. CARE INSTRUCTIONS –
Take care in handling your new print as the paper is very receptive to oils, dirt and moisture from your skin. We recommend leaving prints rolled until framing. If you do need to open your print please ensure your hands have been washed and dried thoroughly and handle the print as little as possible. Avoid creases or dents on the prints. Avoid hanging in direct sunlight.
